My Story
My Counselling Journey
I was inspired to become a midwife during my pregnancies in the late eighties. I combined motherhood with accountancy when Aaron and Tomas were little, once the boys started secondary school, I enjoyed training to become a midwife. With the love and support of my husband and children I succeeded in getting my degree at University of Surrey in Guildford, and I have worked in private practice since qualifying in 2003.
Witnessing women being supported through a natural process, learning to trust their bodies and welcome the changes in themselves has been as honour. I qualified as a massage therapist and infant massage instructor. I firmly believe in the importance of touch as a form of communication.
Sadly, we have become more insular in our modern world, and we live with more stress related illness despite all the medical advancements of the last century.
I embarked on my training to become a person-centred counsellor, specialising in birth trauma, supporting clients who have had previous traumatic birth experiences, and couple therapy, which can help build a healthy relationship and solve any issues that may be present.
Person centred therapy, also known as client-centred therapy, is one of the major models of psychotherapy practiced worldwide. I am BACP registered,
As a therapist I offer support, guidance, and structure to enable clients to discover their own solutions to their personal problems. Counselling has been shown to be effective for a range of client problems, specifically for anxiety and depression.
I have spent the last couple of years working for a charity with children in both primary schools and secondary schools after completing additional studies to support children.
I now work as a school counsellor as well as in private practice offering face to face sessions in Kings Lynn. I have undertaken additional training to qualify in providing telephone or online sessions if necessary.
